Daily Painting: Empty Bottle

SOLD

I love empty bottles. All the shades of blue, so calming. Though this was a simple subject, it was the most colorful palette I’ve used lately. I really love the simplicity and calmness of this entire piece. So happy!

Daily Painting: Double Cheeseburger

SOLD

Sometimes I think it’s better to paint a cheeseburger than eat one. I love Five Guys burgers. It’s sorta a chain I suppose, but they’re amazing! I had one this weekend in fact, all 1000 calories of it… and had a salad for dinner. But really, who doesn’t like a good burger, even vegetarian. There’s something about the layered ability of flavors. Sandwiches of all kinds are my hands down favorites. This little painting is only 6″x6″, making it so cute and little as it stands off the wall. Such a talking piece!

Daily Painting: Red Chucks

SOLD

I always love a good pair of chucks. In college I actually had a kelly green pair that I loved… not sure what happened to them. My daughter has a tiny neon pink polka dot pair that she just grew out of. I miss those.

Daily Painting: Honey Eater

I spent some time in Australia, lived there for about six months. I saw a few of these guys flying around while I was there. They’re called the Honey Eater. Australia has beautiful wild birds. I remember seeing pink cockatoos, just sitting on a wire, pelicans, and plenty more… including the annoying crows. Ibis were a strange sort of bird I saw a lot, trash birds like a seagull, always hanging around the garbage can. That made them less appealing despite their interesting shape. Anyway. Here is my adaptation of a Honey Eater!

Daily Painting: Cracked Up Egg

I have done eggs before, but this one seemed fun, more challenging. I eat eggs every morning, two, scrambled, with sprouted wheat toast and jam. It’s one of the ONLY habits in my life. I don’t normally like routine too often. My daughter also loves eggs. She doesn’t like to eat them, but she loves to crack them. Of all her favorite things, I think eggs are up there.

Daily Painting: Humble Bumble Bee

SOLD

I decided I’m going to paint a bee. I like bees, I have to if I’m going to make paint out of beeswax. I love how this bee is almost looking at his own shadow. Granted, I don’t love a bee when it’s buzzing around my head, but they sure are cute in a picture!

Daily Painting: Baseball Mitt

SOLD

My husband played college ball in New York for a little while. He loved the sport, and was good at it. To this day i’m not really sure why he gave it up. He did get hurt once. I actually even knew my husband when he and my brother played t-ball. He lived in my neighborhood, even. To me, baseball carries little interest as something to watch on TV, but symbolically it means a lot to me! Besides, what’s more american than baseball!? I hope you all enjoy!

Daily Painting: Blueberries

My daughter and I love blueberries, not so much my Hubby, but that’s his problem. I wanted to try painting cloth today. It was surprisingly easy to do with the wax. I find I am far better with organically shaped objects than objects with a hard edge. I will continue to push myself, though. The way wax can be both opaque and transparent is a God-send. Anyone used to oils would love this medium!

Tangerine Juice

I actually found this photo, it also included a cutting board and knife, etc, but I loved the cropped feeling of cutting that part off. I sometimes pull inspiration from images on Creative Commons, a site that shares photos available for this sort of use and re-creation. Usually it’s a way to pass time while my daughter watches “Frozen” for the 300th time.
