Daily Painting: Baseball Mitt

SOLD

My husband played college ball in New York for a little while. He loved the sport, and was good at it. To this day i’m not really sure why he gave it up. He did get hurt once. I actually even knew my husband when he and my brother played t-ball. He lived in my neighborhood, even. To me, baseball carries little interest as something to watch on TV, but symbolically it means a lot to me! Besides, what’s more american than baseball!? I hope you all enjoy!

Daily Painting: Blueberries

My daughter and I love blueberries, not so much my Hubby, but that’s his problem. I wanted to try painting cloth today. It was surprisingly easy to do with the wax. I find I am far better with organically shaped objects than objects with a hard edge. I will continue to push myself, though. The way wax can be both opaque and transparent is a God-send. Anyone used to oils would love this medium!

Tangerine Juice

I actually found this photo, it also included a cutting board and knife, etc, but I loved the cropped feeling of cutting that part off. I sometimes pull inspiration from images on Creative Commons, a site that shares photos available for this sort of use and re-creation. Usually it’s a way to pass time while my daughter watches “Frozen” for the 300th time.

Daily Painting: Line of Figs

SOLD

Figs are funny little fruits. Some people love them, some hate, and some have no idea what they are. I believe one friend of mine thought they were mini eggplants… I got a whole basket of these little guys at the store the other day. I cut them up, and coupled them with a slice of goat cheese and wrapped them in prosciutto. Yummy. I’ve had them with blue cheese before, also, but wasn’t a big fan of the blue I’d picked. Anyway… a good bottle of wine was the perfect thing to wash them down.

I also did 2 paintings, one big and one small so be sure to scroll all the way down to view both!

Daily Painting: Daylight Peach

I think I’m the only person in my little family that likes peaches. I don’t know why. Growing up there was nothing better to me than an anemic canned peach in all that sweet syrup. I love peaches with plain yogurt, or whipped cream. Not a big fan of cooked peaches, though. No… This peach was actually a little on the raw side, crunchy, that was good. Just like and under-ripe pear!

Daily Painting: Daylight Pear

SOLD

My daughter and husband really like pears. I like a pear in a glass of lemonade (likely with vodka) on a hot day, or cold… anytime, really. Pears are one of those fruits you see a lot in still life’s, but it’s also a fruit people seem enamored with. I find the array of colors to be what draws me to them. They go well with cheese, too. What’s a fruit and cheese place without pears? My favorite little bar has a fruit and cheese plate with dried pears. Love it! So anyway, here is my daylight pear!

One-A-Day-Painting: Big Cat

I have two cats, one we recently put outside for the first time in his life. He loves it, if not a little too much. He’s gone native. There’s a black cat that was coming around, my cat has gone after him twice now. I think the black cat is a stray, but it’s good to know my sweet, lazy indoor/outdoor toothless cat can hold his own in the ‘wild’. He’s even on Prozac and still he can’t handle the black-cat-invader. My poor drugged up kitty, maybe one day he’ll learn to relax and get along with his friends.

One-A-Day-Painting: Radishes

My grandmother always used to put radishes in her salads. I’m not sure if she still does, but I was a fan. I also love they way they look with their funny little tails. It was dark and rainy here today, so they were a nice little bright spot in my day!

One-A-Day-Painting: Key

SOLD

My daughter likes to use this key as her ‘car key’ in her little red pedal car. I put a string on it so she couldn’t lose it as fast. I’m pretty sure this key was from our first house. I loved that house, we remodeled the whole thing down to the studs. It took us a year and we did everything ourselves! We lived without a kitchen for 6 months. Looking back, I’m not sure how I survived!
